Coming soon…
While working as a Engineering Estimator, I also supervised a workshop. During this time I was still trying to pursue Mechanical Engineering. In my day-to-day working I wanted to get more work done so I can spend my time learning about Mechanical Engineering. In this and managing the workshop, shipment, and projects I started with expanding on a Excel sheet to multiple sheet to get work done, with some limitation I “overcame” by learning Visual Basic to further automate and expand the Excel worksheets.
During my time expanding on the Excel worksheets with Visual Basic, I started researching more about this thing called programming languages, and what the industries were using. While researching I explored three main languages being Java, C#, and Python. In South Africa Python was not big, but I had to most fun with learning it. With this I created small application in EXE to install on my work and personal computer while learning. With this I started with manipulating CSV file and connecting to different databases. While learning all of this I rediscovered a childhood passion when I was still in school and playing around Java programming language.
I started looking at places where I could study to enter the work of programming and development. With this I came across 1 place CTI Education group that provided the course, and they only had 2 options for language, C# and Java, I went with and pressed in with Java. While starting to study, I started in my spare time to develop a Java application to make my work more efficient and move away from the Excel sheets I was using then, with this being the idea of learning the language before I start to study it, that I can ace my exam.
While still busy with studying, I got the opportunity to start working for a company as a Junior Developer. In this new position I started growing myself to make sure I can handle any task the company would give me.
